![]() But I think the right game tables might be used by our kids, their friends, perhaps significant others, and other family. My kids are 22, 20, 16, so maybe if we wanted this we should have done it a few years ago. The anti-ideal is something that's fun for about 3-4 sessions in the first month or two, then mostly collects dust until I get sick enough of it to dispose of it for a pittance. The ideal is a modest investment or two that doesn't hog too much space, that gets used a lot the first couple years and a reasonable amount for a decade or three thereafter. Also a jukebox (vinyl!) that didn't work well at all. It got some use, and I think eventually migrated to one of my wife's sister's places. My wife's family had an old pinball machine that was a bit if-fy on whether it would work well at any given time. My main direct experience is table tennis and pool - we had both growing up, and table tennis held interest a bit more than pool, both for me and the group. Spending $3000+ on something that loses interest would annoy me BOTH because I'd be slow to get rid of it and because of the cost. Spending $500 on something that loses group interest would annoy me because I'd be slow to get rid of it. * Also, maybe a jukebox? Too kitsch/retro? Other stuff like this? Not sure a standup arcade machine would be much different. But we have lots of old Nintendos and such around the house - interest in them mostly fades. * Arcade machine - Probably some kind of multi-play. Also, pinball is a one person at a time game - most other options allow more simultaneous players. * Vintage pinball - Neat, but the games are maybe not so complex. Could also do one of those dart machines that uses non sharp darts. Basement ceiling is a bit low though ~6'10 or 7'. One of the easiest/cheapest to buy/set up, and not hard or painful to get rid of, if need be. * Darts - could do real darts - I guess I wouldn't freak out if our wall got banged up. But loses interest a bit too quick, maybe? * Table shuffleboard - have occasionally dabbled with. * Foosball - kinda fun, haven't played much since college maybe? Not sure it would hold interest longer term. * Air hockey - have played some, but seems kinda luck based/random. ![]() * Pool - have played a fair amount over my life, but liked table tennis better. But, I dunno - takes a lot of space, I'm a bit tired of it, and my wife would convert it to a *stuff* table, quickly. * Table tennis - played a lot when I was younger, including with my brothers and father, who are all still here sometimes. We have a finished basement (~85% of it anyways), where a big chunk of space just opened up (about 18' x 9.5', though it can't be filled - needs to allow pass-through). I'm more interested in other options, so, new thread. There was a thread mostly on Ping Pong/Table Tennis tables, but a bit on other possibilities, last year.

Inkscape can also be used to convert raster images to vectors using a trace feature. It can be used to create artwork, digital graphics and illustrations like logos. I'm hugely grateful for the program and have had a good time learning it, and it's come in handy on many occasions, already.Inkscape is a popular vector graphics editor used across industries due to its immense accessibility. Please don't interpret any of this to be a fundamental non-appreciation or anything. (I also think that adding animation ability would be HUGE and I don't think there's much work on that?) But I get spoiled by GIMP and Blender (especially Blender!) and so, ya know, by comparison Inkscape isn't as regularly novel. I'm not really complaining, since I couldn't do any of that. Looking at the Wikipedia page, there hasn't been a new version since 2010 (not counting bug fixes). But, based upon what I know (which isn't too much, admittedly), there doesn't seem to be a comparable amount of new activity on Inkscape. But I can say that Blender and GIMP seem to have updates at least monthly, and there is always talk of this-or-that major upgrade. In fact, I've just been learning the program intermittently over the past three or four months, so I'm a novice all-around. I guess the development rate depends on what you compare Inkscape to. I really wish I could give you some better info, but I'm just not well informed about the development side of Inkscape. It sounds more like you want to add functionality to the existing Trace Bitmap (potrace). I don't know if an extension is what you would want for this though. Also, in our Programming subforum, someone has made somewhat of a tutorial, which I think is aimed at making extensions. You should be able to find the irc channel somewhere there in the wiki, if you don't want to join the mailing list. You can start here, in the Developers section: to learn about the mailing list, and where to find the code and stuff. But I guess it couldn't hurt to try Or maybe you could tweak the node handles to repair the corners? I suspect it will make sharp corners acutely rounded. Then you could just delete the original paths. Theoretically, that will give you a single path that is more or less centered between the inside and the outside. Set Interpolations steps to 1, and Apply. (Before, it was technically a compound path of 2 subpaths.) Now select both and open Extensions menu > Generate from path > Interpolate. This will result in 2 paths, the inside and the outside. Select the result and do Path menu > Break apart. Do the trace using one of the single scan options. I haven't actually tried it yet, but here it is. Hhhhm.well, I have thought of a pretty ugly way to do this. I just don't have the time to experiment. I did not play around with those, but I suspect you could get something closer to acceptable, once you find the right ones. However, there are a number of variables that can be adjusted. But it's still several paths, broken in seemingly illogical places. I tried a path of 1.0 width, and it does result in less distortion. But it would just take a couple of seconds to try it It may be that your Spiderman example would work better, since the lines are more right-anglish. So I don't think a signature will turn out looking right. Maybe a narrower line would work better? But anyway, here's the before and after: ![]() I made the original stroke width 5.00, just for clarity. Or maybe it has something to do with the thickness of the original line. I can think of some fonts though which could be adversely affected. The Centerline option is intended to be used for text/font, so maybe that has something to do with it. I'm not sure why it breaks it up like it does. But there are many paths, when the original was one single path. Hhmm.ok, I'll try a signature.well I'll have to just use a squiggly stroked path, because I can't really write with a mouse.Īahhh, well it didn't turn out as I expected. Yes, the Centerline Trace option did result in a single stroked path for a single line, rather than a filled shape! I did not use a signature to test it, just a simple line drawing. I'll give it a try, and let you know what I learn. I am curious though, about the centerline trace. I'd be hard pressed to think of even a long way to do it.
